Enhancing Your Blog’s Appeal Using Video
Like anything on the Internet, blogs are all about communicating. There are now millions of blogs in existence, ranging from personal travel diaries by an individual to the latest product news from a multinational company. The reason why blogs have become so popular is that they are so easy to create and maintain that anyone can have one. They have also quickly become a good way to express personal opinions and personal knowledge.
Communication takes many forms, and it is worth considering these different forms when creating a blog. Blogs that just contain words can feel like an effort to digest and not very attractive to the reader. Because the rest of the Internet is awash with color and interactivity, then it’s a good idea to try and make your blog have a similar appeal. Adding rich content, as well as being attractive and interesting, also can help you convey your message in another way.
It is said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, (but a video is worth a million!). Using video in blogs can add so much more information within a small space, and also keeps your visitors interested for longer. Videos are especially useful as a visual aid if you are demonstrating something or sharing an experience.
Video blogging has also become a completely different entity in itself following the creation of sites such as YouTube. People are actively posting video logs (vlogs? – doesn’t have the same ring to it) or video journals and starting their own channel to convey their opinions. This is great, but by posting your videos in your written, regular blog you can add so much more and keep the written content up to date. You can also take advantage of the fact that people can easily interact with you more easily with a regular blog.
There is also the added benefit that you can share your video elsewhere, on other blogs without it being considered duplicate content by the search engines. If you simply just copy and paste your articles or blog posts elsewhere you may be penalized for it by the search engines.
Of course you don’t have to create your own video. You can easily use other people’s videos in your blog and you are completely entitled to. People have the opportunity to turn off the embed feature of sites like YouTube if they so wish, but you will probably find that the video you want to use will allow it.
Video can be a great way to get people to stay at your blog for longer and keep them coming back for more. This will increase your traffic and let you make money at home with blogging. It can add a whole new aspect to your blog and makes it easier to convey your message.
